Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE]

Placeholder notice: this is a working draft, not a substitute for review by a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction. Fill in the bracketed fields below (operator name/entity, governing-law state, support contact) and have it reviewed before relying on it for a real launch with paying customers.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of playship - the CLI, the web dashboard at this domain, and the services they connect to (together, the "Service"), operated by [YOUR NAME OR ENTITY] ("playship," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What the Service does

playship has two parts:

playship is a tool that takes actions you direct - it does not independently decide to publish, charge, or act on your behalf without a request from you (or an API call made under your credentials) triggering it.

2. Accounts

3. Your credentials and third-party accounts

Build and Play Store tooling both work by connecting your own accounts and credentials - a Google Play Console service account, a Firebase service account, optionally your own Anthropic API key. playship encrypts these at rest (AES-256-GCM) and uses them only to make the specific API calls you request. You're responsible for:

4. Subscriptions, credits, and billing

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, including by disabling the Service platform-wide temporarily if we believe it's necessary to investigate abuse (see our README's documented maintenance-mode kill switch, which disables new signups, checkouts, and Anthropic-spend-incurring actions without taking existing users' data offline).

6. Your content

You own what you generate with Build - the app code, the store listing copy, everything produced from your inputs. We don't claim ownership of it, and every generated version is downloadable as plain HTML/CSS/JS with no lock-in. We may process your inputs and outputs as needed to provide the Service (e.g., sending your idea description to the AI model that generates the app - see the Privacy Policy for what's shared with whom).

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on and sends data to:

Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' own terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, appropriate, or fit for any particular purpose - review everything Build generates before publishing or relying on it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, playship and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100 if you haven't paid us anything.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold playship harmless from any claim arising from your use of the Service, your generated content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Termination

You can delete your account anytime from the dashboard's Account panel - this is self-service and immediate. We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these Terms, non-payment, or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification) do.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page; continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. For material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users by email.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE/COUNTRY], without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Add an arbitration clause or venue selection here if you want one - talk to a lawyer about whether that's worth doing at this stage.]
